(Hartford) Up at 9. Cool, bright morning. Father called. Downtown. Paid T. Steele for silver for Johnny. Letters from Johnny & Fred. Ordered cards for Fred. Mr. C. H. Morgan, of Worcester called. Walked to depot with him. Called Father's. Wrote up diary. Talked with Alice again about Johnny. Again downtown. Called for umbrellas at Rice's. Off at 7.20 for New York. Met Mr. Southworth on cars. Rode with him in close conversation to New York. Stopped at Ashland House. Retired at 11.50.
