(Hartford) Up at 9. Long talk with Alice about Johnny Wattles. Very tired. Downtown in afternoon with Johnny. Called at bank and post-office. Wrote letters from 4 until 6. Called at Father's. Ate no dinner. Took cup of tea at 4. Out with Alice to Gen. Hawley's to tea. Met Rev. C. M. Wines & wife. Home at 10.45. Wrote again and talked with Johnny until 11.45. Retired at 12. Sent seventeen S.S. letters.
