(Hartford) Up at 7.50. Warm day. Down to State House. Opened both Houses of Legislature with a prayer. Called at post-office & McNary's. Worked on Mss copy of address at Newark for S.S. Times Report of Nat'l Conv'n. L. M. Marsh came down from Springfield at noon. Talked with him about his removal West. Downtown with him. Called at Bromley's. Marsh back to Spring'd at 4.45pm. "Nippins" called. Out to Twichell's after tea. Called on "Mark Twain". Worked again on copy of address. Down to post-office. Called at Bromley's. Talked with Sperry. Called at Father's. Worked on address mss until past midnight. Retired at 12.45. Sent two S.S. letters and two others.
