(Hartford) Up at 6.45. Downtown. Called at Bronson's, McNary's, Geer & Pond's, Ruggles, etc. Book shelves for children came. Called at Rev. Mr. Gould's. After dinner downtown again to post-office. Off at 1.40 for New London. Fletcher bound to So. Windham. Met Mr. Parker, Mr. Smith, & Frank Stevens on cars. Wrote on letters to Allen, Gray & Fred. On N. L. R. R. near New London, train knocked a woman from trestle bridge. Sad time recovering her body. Her husband disconsolable. Aided to raise money for him. Reached New London at 5. Stopped at Joshua Learned's. Dr. Field & Dr. Sheffield called. Sat with family until later. Retired at 11.10. Sent four S. S. letters and one other.
