(Hartford) Up at 7.50. Wrote on letter for Cong'l & Recorder. Downtown after dinner. Slipped on ice at Ann St. and covered clothing with mud. Rode home. Passed much of the afternoon cleaning up. Off for Springfield at 7.15. Met Holland there. Gray went with me thence to Boston. Reached Parker House about 1am. Retired at 1.25. Sent off six S. S. letters & telegrams and one other.
