(Hartford) Up at 7.40. Finished letter to Advance & read it to Alice. Rev. C. Pickett came from Enfield to see me. Stopped until 9.40. Gen. Lyman & Capt. Dwight called. Went down to Gen. Hawley's office with them. After dinner went again there. Had talk with Gen. as to Lyman & himself. called at Dr. Hunt's before dinner. Bought shoes. Ordered coal. In eveg. out at 8.20 to Camps to see tableaux with children. Home at 10.15. Sent off eight S. S. letters. Retired at 11.30.
