(Hartford) Up at 6.45. Alice quite ill with erysipelas again. Went for Dr. Hunt before breakfast. Called at Father's. Mrs. Egiton went off at 9.40. Downtown to Courant office. Thence to Gen. Hawley's room. At 2pm went to Springfield. Called at Holland's. Sent off books to England. Read notice of my book in Eggleston's magazine. Supped at the Massasoit. Off for Westfield at 6.30. Very rainy day and evening. Called on H. Hopkins. Preached for him from Mark 12:29, 30. Back to Hopkins with Burnell of Co. K. He seemingly surrended himself to Jesus. With Hopkins until 12.30. Sent sixteen S. S. letters and three others.
