(Hartford) Up at 7. Head aching severely. Gen. Otis off at 9.30 for home. Alice no better. W. B. Rice called with sample labels. Ordered 5,000 of them. Arranged for Post to go to Boston for me. Downtown before dinner. Called on Bromley. Had talk about Gen. H. Stuart. Called at Post-office. Met Gen. Hawley at cars at noon. Sent off letters to Springfield by that mail car. At 6pm Port came down, on his way to New York. Called at Father's. Downtown before 6pm. Port off at 7.15. Sent eleven S. S. letters and four others. Wrote long letter to Gray in evening. Retired at 12.10.
