Thursday, February 4, 1869

(Hartford) Up at 7.50 quite refreshed. Wrote up diary. Commenced sermon on Sympathy of Jesus. Worked at it until noon. Down to bank & post-office at 2pm. Tel'd Gray. Day of sleet, hail, rain, snow & sunshine by turns. Obtained check for Mr. Wurts. Wrote to Fred again. Out to Camps at 6pm. Took tea there. Home at 6.50. May feverish. Off at 7.15 for New York. Marshall Jewell on cars. Slept awhile. Otis met me at depot in New York. Passed night at Ashland House. Retired at 12.30. Sent two letters & one telegram.
