(N.Y. Central R.R. near Albany) Up at 5.45. At Albany at 6.10. Breakfasted at depot off at 6.30 for Springfield. Wrote Mr. Camp and Fred. Reached Springfield at 11.15. Called at Holland's. He absent. Washed up. Down to Mrs. Merriam's, dined there. Had talk with mr. & Mrs. M. and May. Off for home at 2.25. Home at 3.30 finding all well. Thank God! Called at Father's. Looked over papers. Wrote postmasters of Lynchburg & Atlanta. Bern called in evening & passed the night. Retired at 11.
