(Hartford) Up at 7.50. Wrote at home after breakfast. Downtown. Attended minister's meeting. "Sermonizing" the subject of discussion. Had a talk with Gould. In afternoon wrote again. Very severe rain. Thunder, lightning & hail beyond a parallel. Sent off twelve S.S. letters and five others. Retired at 11.15 after call at Father's and discussion with James over Phoenix Life Ins. Co.
