(On R.R. near Greensboro, N.C.) Changed cars at Greensboro soon after midnight. Took coffee & biscuit. Slept again. Up & out to look around at Salisbury. Reached Charlotte soon after 5am. Changed cars for Columbia. Met young Cohen. Breakfasted at Chester. Wrote letter to the Porhanks to Fred Fish & Alice. At Columbia at noon. Went to Nickerson's Hotel. Washed & dressed. Called at Capt. Senn's, at post-office & old Maggee's. After dinner wrote Fred & Fletcher. Walked to telegram office & depot. Rode about town. Took tea with Capt. Senn's family. Called at Mrs. Plumer's. Retired at 11.
