(Hartford) Up at 5.15. Bright and warm day. Off at 6 for Boston. Wrote Walter. Met G. Bowles at Sp'd and shared his seat to Boston. Wrote up diary. Wrote Gray & two letters to Fred. Reached Boston at 11. Called at Shute's, Chapman's, & Noyes'. Walked out to Kimball's & to Back Bay. Again to Kimball's to look up carriage for Gray. Met W. C. Chapin, Pratt & others at Shute's. Called on Mr. Torrey. Lunched in Temple Place. Dined with Chapman at Parker's. Down to Worcester depot, hoping to meet Dr. Newton. Off at 5.40 for Dorchester. Stopped at Mr. Shaw's. Called at Mr. Mean's. Addressed S.S. Anniv'y in even'g. Returned to Mr. Shaw's. Retired at 11.15. Hot day. Showery evening. Wrote Fred Fish.
