(Springfield, Mass.) Up at 5.50. After breakfast off for Boston at 7.15. Finished letter to Allen. Wrote on letter to Fred. Chatted with Gen. Gordon. Reached Boston at 11. Called at Shute's, Thacher's, Noyes', Kinsley's, Hutchings'. Also at office of Cong'l & Rec'r. Again at Thacher's, Shute's, & Kinsley's. Dined at Parker House. At Thacher's met Fred's friend Geo. Thacher & had pleasant talk with him. Again at Shute', Hatchings', & Kinsley's. Had corns cut at Dr. Perkin's. Had talk with him about Mr. Torrey. Again at Shute's. After supper at Parker's, met Miss Hammersley & others. Off for home at 9pm. Wrote awhile. Slept awhile. Home at 1.40. Retired at 2.15. Tel'd Alice.
