(Hartford) Up at 7.50. Hot day. Cloudy morning. Downtown at 9.50. Met E. G. Howe. Called on R. Mather, at Daniels', at Steeles', at Parsons', & Jacobs, etc. Ordered carriage. After dinner wrote again and at 3.30 rode out with Alice, Ally and Mr. Elmore. Did shopping. Called on Mr. Bartholomew. Sent nine S.S. letters and two others. Made out monthly report. Sent two more letters. Finished packing. Paid Alice & Bridget Clancy. Arranged money matters. Off at 9.40 for New Haven. Tryon on cars. Off at 11.30 for N.Y. in Str. Cont'l. Sat & talked with young lawyer. Retired at 2am
