Monday, April 12, 1869

(Boston) Up at 6.30. After breakfast, off at 8.30 for New York. Mr. & Mrs. Gould & Mr. & Mrs. W. C. Chapin on cars. Very dusty day. Wrote Mr. Wurts on cars. Met Fletcher at Hartford depot with batch of letters, including those from Gray & Allen. Finished letter to Gray. Letter to E. C. Bissell went by Fletcher. Kept on to New York. Reached there at 5.20. Dined at Mary Prime's. Down to 599 Bdway. Met Eggleston, Vincent & others to arrange for Nat'l Conv'n. At 10.15pm rode down town. Mailed letter to Gray. Took oyster's at Dorlan's. Off at 11pm for New Haven on Str. Traveller. State room with strangers. Retired at 11.45.
