(Hartford) Up at 7.45. Over to house after breakfast, looking over commentaries. Downtown to R.R. offices to obtain half-fare tickets. Off at 10am for New London by Valley R.R. Read and wrote on cars. Wrote Frank Allen. At New London about 1.15. Dined at Crocker House. Called at Mr. Haven's. Had long talk about the boys in his family, opening exercises, and reviews. At 4pm off for Edgecombe House. Met Johnny on Groton side. At Capt. Spicer's about 5. All well, and busy packing. Aided in this. Pleasant hour together in Nelly Camp's room. Retired at 9.30. Children not well in night. Hard night for Alice.
