(Hartford) Up at 7.30. Down to 4th Congl Church in forenoon. Heard Rev. Mr. Mines preach on terms of church membership. Had talk with him. Out to Asylum Hill Cong. S.S. Met Miss Mathers. Brought her home for tea and the evening. Delightful visit from her. She told stories of slave life .and sang slave songs for children. Down with her to Mr. Eldridge's in evening. Alice with us. Stopped with Alice, returning, at Father's. Retired at 10.30.
