(New York) Up at 6.30 with head ache. After breakfast with Prime up to depot and off by 8.05 train. Wrote Independent notes on cars. Wrote up diary. At home at noon. Wrote to W. S. Browne. Johnny back with money. Off at 2.15 to New London and Stonington. Met Collington Billings and wife and others on cars. Met Mr. Clift at Mystic. Stopped at Mrs. Dr. Hyde's. Sad house! called on Billin Farening in evening. Long talk with Mrs. Hyde as to the Dr's last days. Called at Mr. Wale's. Had room at Stanton Sheffield's. Retired at 10.
