(Eastern Point) Up at 7. Clear cool morning. Wrote up diary. Read and made notes for Independent. Johnny returned about 2, having started the S.S. at Hamburg. Willy and Alice Learned came over for the afternoon. Over to New London by 5.45 boat. Brought brown bread, butter, sugar, candy,etc. Back to Capt. Spicer's by 7 o'clock boat. Lunched in room. Retired at 10.30. Charley wakeful and restless.
