(Hartford) Up at 8.15. Mr. Kingsbury called to see me. Walked with hit to Retreat. Lond talk about collecting agency of Am. S.S. Union. Saw Dr. Whittimore and Denny, about Gray. Had chat with Gray. Back at Father's. Johnny back from Hamburg. Aided him at house, clearing out secretary. Rainy afternoon. Off at 2.15 for New London. Met Kingsbury and Woodward of Franklin on cars. At New London at 5.30. At Capt. Spicer's by 5.30 boat. Wrote in evening as well as on way from Hartford - on lesson notes and other copy for Independent. Retired at 11.
