(Eastern Point) Up at 6.50. Cloudy morning. Wrote on Independent copy, and made notes from S.S. Magazines. Wrote up diary. Wrote letters. Johnn out rowing with Underwoods. Up to New London with Johnny by 3.15 boat. Met Joshua Learned & Mr. Bartlett. Called at Learneds. Back by 5.30 boat. Walked with Underwoods by beach in evening. Retired at 9. Johnny came into room and talked with me about his future for a half hour. Close warm afternoon and evening.
