(Hartford) Up at 7.45. Bright day. Worked on Christmas exercise for "World" and other copy. Downtown after dinner. Called at bank, at Syke's, at "Courant" office, and Brigg's. Called twice at Father's. Arranged papers on table and in room generally. Mr. Childs, Miss Perry, Stockbridge, and Woodworth came to tea. Charley turned tincture of iron on to his dress. Water pipes leaked. Plumber called for. Called again at Father's. Retired about 11.
