(Bellow's Falls, Vermont) After nap on sofa breakfasted about 7, and soon after off for Springfield. Gen. Hawley provoked at Springfield Republican notice of his speech. He wrote note of correction. I wrote letter to Post describing reunion. Home about noon. At Father's. Down to Post office. Johnny appeared unexpectedly after I had telegraphed to him. Gathered papers and clothing from house and off at 6.25 for New London. Pleasant talk with Bp. M. McFarland on cars. At New London about 9.30. Stopped at Crocker House. Met Capt. Nat Palmer on cars. Retired about 10.45.
