(Eastern Point) Up at 7. Rainy day. Wrote Mr. Merriam. Over to New London with Johnny by 9.55 boat. He off at 11.15 for Hamburg. Back to house alone. Made cup of coffee. Wrote up diary after dinner. Wrote notice for "Evening Post" of Dana's "Norwich Memorial". John B. Smith came in the evening to pass the night. Talked with him and looked over Review notes. Retired at 11.
