(Hartford) Up at 6.30. Frank Allen off at 8.10 after early breakfast. President Gilman of University of California on the train. Met Gen. Hawley there. Called at Father's. Rainy morning. Wrote on copy for "World". Off at 12.20 for Springfield. Dine at Massasoit. Met Rev. Mr. W. P. Aiken, Chap Bradford, Dr. Vincent & Rev. N. Weiss there. Attended Meth. Epis. S.S. Convn. at State St M. E. Church. Met Brewer there. Back by 5.10 train to Hartford. Friends of Sophy in for the evening. Wrote at Father's. Finished copy for Jany "World". Saw Sophy's friends at house. Retired, very tired at 10.30.
