(New York Harbor) In dock about 7. Pleasant day. Breakfasteed at Astor House. Met Mr. Jno. D. Park there. Called on Allen. Then at Independent offic. Talk about Dr. Burn's book, and about my work for the paper. Called on Wisewell. Thence to Vincent's. Dined with him., again at Wisewell's. Off by 4.39 train for Hartford. Telegraphed Gurdon. Wrote several letters on cars. Lunched at New Haven. Off for home by steamboat train. At home about 9.50. Found Sophy & May just in from Profile House. Retired at 11.30.
