(Hartford) Sophy's birthday. Gave her a pungent bottle. Downtown with Johnny Called at Father's. Off at 1.50 for New York. Johnny on cars to Bridgeport. Met John G. North & Friend Smith on cars. Made notes for Sunday evening address. At Prime's to dinner. Out to Allen's. 308 S. 21st St. Pleasant evening there, talking of fitness for S.S. work on the part of a teacher. At Prime's at 9.30. Sat with him until 11.30. Retired at 11.45.
