(Hartford, Ct.) Up at 7.30. Tainer came to attend to roofs. Wrote letters all forenoon. Downtown after dinner with Johnny. Called at post-office, telegraph office, livery stable, bank, and Courant office. Talked with Hawley about article on Litch & Co. crime. Off at 3.30 for New York. Kate and Frank Budd with me to Fairfield. Rainy afternoon. Tel'd J. B. Tyler. Wrote in cars to H. D. Noyes, W. A. Aiken, C. H. Morgan & C. Merriam. Reached Prime's at 8.30. Called at Ashland House. Met Tyler and Kingsbury. Again at Prime's. Talked with him and Mary. Retired at 11.15. Sent 18 S.S. letters and three others.
