(Hartford) Up at 8.10. Painter came to paint fence, roofs, etc. Downtown with Johnny. Obtained hinges for gate. Called at Seymns', Phillips, etc. Home at noon. Had hinges put on gate. Watched painter and joiner much of day. Wrote letters. Off at 6.20 for Norwich. Worked on figures for June report on cars. At Norwich at 8.50. Fred met me. Called at Lanman 0000's. Went to Fred's room. Talked over his affairs with him. He wrote to his father. Retired at 12.15. Noisy night, after pleasant day. Sent twelve S.S. letters and three others.
