(Hartford) Up at 6.20. Hot day. Off at 8.10 for New York. Wrote up diary. Wrote B. Wright, Gen. Plaisted, Sen. Buckingham, Sec. Boutwell, Prev. E. P. Hooker, Mrs. C. M. Hudson & Col. J. W. Pettibone. At New York at 1. Dined at St. James Hotel. Left valise there. Called at Meth. Book Room. Saw Vincent, Peltz, Ostrander, Lansing, Tyler and Eggleston. Attended session at 15 Bible House of Ex. Com. of Nat'l S.S. Convn. Acted as Secretary. Down to office of Independent with Eggleston. Suppsed at Ashland House. Off for home at 8pm. Slept most of the way. Home at 1.45. Retired at 2. Irwins at house. Sent five S.S. letters and three others.
